We get asked all the time why we only grow one variety. The honest answer: after trialling the popular screening plants side by side in SEQ conditions, Lilly Pilly Resilience won so convincingly that growing anything else felt like selling customers a compromise.

What makes Resilience different

Psyllid resistance

The classic complaint about older Lilly Pilly varieties is pimply, distorted leaves caused by psyllids. Resilience was selected specifically for resistance to them. The foliage stays clean and glossy without spraying, which matters when the whole point of a hedge is how it looks.

Density from the ground up

A privacy screen with bare ankles is not private. Resilience naturally holds foliage low on the plant and thickens quickly when tipped, which is why our hedges knit into a solid green wall rather than a row of lollipops on sticks.

Speed without fragility

Resilience puts on 30 to 60cm a year in SEQ once established. That is fast enough to gain height every season, but not the brittle, floppy growth you get from the fastest screening species that snap in storms and thin out at the base.

Coastal and heat tolerance

From Redcliffe to Currumbin, our coastal installs cop salt wind, summer humidity and the occasional heatwave. Resilience shrugs it off. It also handles light frost in the hinterland, which catches out some tropical alternatives.

How it compares

Murraya is lovely but slower to height and prefers more shelter. Viburnum grows fast but thins at the base without constant attention. Bamboo screens instantly but brings running-root anxiety and body-corporate arguments. For a classic clipped privacy hedge in SEQ, Resilience is the least-regret choice we know.
