The timeline gap
A tubestock plant in SEQ takes roughly three to four years of good care to reach 1.5m of dense screening height. Our Starter stock is there on day one, and our Ultimate stock starts above head height. The question is what those years are worth to you.
What tubestock actually costs
- Plants: say $5 each, 11 plants for a 10m fence: $55
- Losses: expect to lose 10 to 20 percent of tubestock to heat, grubs and holidays. Add replacements and the staggered look that comes with them.
- Water and feed: three-plus years of establishment watering and fertiliser instead of twelve weeks.

When tubestock genuinely makes sense
We are not anti-tubestock. On very long rural runs of 50 metres or more, or where there is no urgency at all and someone home to water, small stock is a fine choice and we will tell you so if you ask.
